Department of Mathematics

The development of mathematics is intimately interwoven with the progress of civilization, influenzing the course of history through its applications to science and technology. It has greatly evolved in the past 100 years and so thoroughly has it been reworked in the post modern approach. Despite its arcane appearance from the outside looking in, the present, abstract and highly specialized state of Mathematics is the natural evolution of the subject, and there is much ahead that is exciting. Activities conducted by the department ensure this.

DEPARTMENT ACTIVITIES (2019-2020)

  • MAXMELA – 2019 was conducted on 17th September The Chief Guest of the day was Dr. A. Uma Maheshwari, Head & Associate Preofessor, PG and Research Department of Mathematics, Quaid –E – Millath Government College for Women. She delivered about how to deal Mathematics in our real life when there is a problem. The Department conducted various events like Math Quiz, Math Art, Math Talk Dumb – c. All the Students actively participated in all the events.

DEPARTMENT ACTIVITIES (2020-2021)

  • Statistical Exposures In Day to Day life was conducted on 17th July 2020, Assistant Professor, Dept., of Statistics, Madras Christian College, Chennai was the guest and graced the occasion. It was an informative session for students. He explained that how to collect data and present it through diagrams and Graphs. He represented the survey of pandemic disease COVID-19 affected people using bar diagrams.
  • E – Quiz on MathemaStatistica was conducted on 29th August 2020. It was an Interactive session from the students. The participants who have secured 80% and above got e – certificates.
  • MAXMELA – 2020 was conducted on 10th October The Chief Guest of the day was Dr. D. Annapoorni, Associate Professor and Head, Department of Statistics, SDNB Vaishnav College for Women, Chennai. She briefly explained about the Data Analytics to the students. She represented the statistical system in our state. She also delivered that wherever the data science is applicable. She also explained that what are the plenty number of carrier opportunities based on Data Science and Statistics is available. The Resource person helped the students to have a deep understanding about Statistics and Data Analytics. The Department conducted various events like E – Quiz, Adzap, Math Talk, Math Singing. All the Students actively participated in all the events.
  • Enhancing Statistics for Career Development was conducted on 6th November The Resource person was Dr. S. Valarmathi, Research Officer (Statistics), The Tamilnadu Dr. MGR Medical University, Chennai. The Webinar made all the students to understand that how Statistics helps for their career development. She explained the opportunities based on Statistics. She also listed about the benefits of certificate courses after their UG course. She interacted and given suggestions to the students based on their stream.
