INTRODUCTION

English has become the accepted medium of global communication. The possession of excellent communication skills is an important prerequisite for employment today. The department unfolds a number of programmes to develop the language competence and learning skills of the learners at the undergraduate level. The interactive approach and participative methods adopted by the department makes the process of learning more engaging, relevant and enjoyable for the young learners. This year the department commenced its activities by inducting Komal Jain of II B.Sc as the Student secretary of the English association.

To help the young students in smooth transition to college from school, a Bridge Course is conducted every year. The modules comprise various exercises which focus on Reading, Writing, Listening and Speaking skills. Word games, grammar worksheets, puzzles, crosswords and quiz are the important components of the course which enable the Freshers to shed their inhibitions and become more communicative.

Voices, the GSS Debate Club and Seekers, the GSS Quiz Club provide suitable platforms for showcasing the Oratorical and Quizzing skills respectively. Activities are organized every month for the students of all disciplines, both Undergraduates and Postgraduates.

Inter-collegiate English Literary Fiesta is organized by the Department of English
