About the Department
The Department of Commerce is constantly evolving in creating a fine balance of academics, co-curricular and extracurricular activities thereby exploring a whole bunch of opportunities to expand the horizon of learning. The student community is engaged with ideas of activity with practical experiences being the springboard for enlivening the learning process. The primary mission of the department is to create a platform for students to learn together to address the challenges posed by the externalia which require global solutions.

B.COM (General) Activities
Talentia, an Intra-Collegiate Commerce Fiesta hosted by the Department of Commerce on 10th July 2018. Shri.Venu Srinivasan (Managing Director Leo Coffee Ltd. formally inaugurated the fest. An array of enriching events like The B Man, Smart Phone Ad Fest, Lock C, App the Service, Fab Diz, T shirt Designing, Spel Craf etc., were conducted to provide a forum for creativity and interchange of ideas and information.
Comfest, an Inter-Collegiate Commerce Fiesta hosted by the Department of Commerce on 1st August 2018. The program was inaugurated by Shri. Dr. Jeorajji Jain. Theme-based competitions such as Seminar on Goods & Service Tax, Blazon ( Voice Over ), Manifesto ( Showcasing Products), Corporate Roadies( Variety Show), Wordstar, Etude De Case ( Case Analysis), Inklings ( Sketching ) were organized.
Conferences & Seminars
International Conference was organized in association with the Confederation of Indian Industry on the Topic :“The Global Relevance of Bitcoin as a payment system” on 29th September 2018. 50 papers were received from 35 colleges across the world.

Ganesan, Bharathidasan University, Trichy, Dr. P.Balamurugan, Central University of Tamilnadu, Thiruvarur. Shri. Aditya Roongta, Vice-Chairman, Confederation of Indian Industry – Young Indians. was the Chief Guest for the Valedictory Session and distributed the prizes.
National Conference was organized in association with the Confederation of Indian Industry on the Topic :“Sustainability & Transformation of Small Business in Inclusive Growth” on 11th October 2017. Small businesses in inclusive growth is an important theme evincing keen interest in the economic scenario. Infrastructure and Financial Competitiveness & Economic growth & Employment generation were the subthemes taken up for discussion. 30 papers were received from 19 colleges across the country. Eminent dignitaries and experts in the Industrial Sector participated in the conference. 12 papers were selected for presentation in the 2 technical sessions of the conference. Fabulous prizes were awarded by the management for the best papers in each technical session for Student teams and student teams separately.
International Conference was organized in association with the Institute of Cost Accountants of India on the Topic :“Financial sector Reforms – New Vistas & New Priorities on 15th December 2016. Financial Sector Reforms intended to allocate the resources efficiently is an important theme evincing keen interest in the Financial scenario.
An E- Book of the proceedings of the Conference with ISBN No is published and distributed to the participants of the Conference
Internship training has been made mandatory for all students during the summer break in order to enhance the academic milieu and to strengthen their employability and training skills. HindustanLtd, India Cements Ltd, , Sundaram Fasteners Ltd, ITC Ltd., Simpson & Group Companies., Brakes India Pvt. Ltd, Wheels India Ltd., Chola M.S General Insurance Ltd., Shri Ram General Insurance Ltd., Coco-Cola, Kavin Care Ltd., Arvind Remedies Ltd., Essar Rubber Industries, Port Trust, Tata Motors, SBI, IOB, Canara Bank, TNSC Bank, CCC Bank, ICICI Bank, Indusland Bank, Roonwal Motors, Bajaj Co are some of the companies enlisted for internship programs. The students are required to summarise their training in the form of a record and the best records are acknowledged with certificates and cash prizes.
